As the NCAA tournament begins today, many people are assessing the talent: Is this the year (School X) must win? Will next year leave them with enough talent to try again? Many of the recruits and recent signees are imaging themselves on the big stage, too.

We thought we would take a closer look at the top-16 teams in the tournament and the recruits they have graduating and coming in for the 2019 season. Of course, many of the top programs have talented players on the bench ready to fill a void, but having a competitive practice gym is just as important to a team’s success.

We also gave each class an “Average Senior Ace Rating” by adding up each player’s Senior Ace ranking and dividing it by the number of players. If a player was not ranked, but she made “The 150” list, she received the number 101. If she was listed as a player who “Just Missed the Top-250,” she was given number 251. The players listed below who were not mentioned in our Senior Aces list were given the next-highest number, which is 286.

The lower the score, the more impactful the players are thought to be. Does this rating mean anything? Is it an accurate assessment of talent? Maybe. At least it’s a good starting point. 

Below, we break down what the changes to the 2019 rosters of the teams in the Sweet-16 might look like (assuming there are no transfers, of course!). We also note nine other programs who have recruited strong players in the Class of 2019.
