Before the Class of 2019 graduates, we figured we should release our 2018 PrepVolleyball.com High School Volleyball Academic All-American list. And, finally, it’s here!
Here’s a little how we made this list: After high school season commenced in the fall, we asked coaches to nominate those players who were brilliant on the volleyball court and in the classroom. To be considered for this honor, players must have been nominated, unlike in many performance-based awards, which can sometimes be determined by using lists and statistics alone. We needed to know more about the student-athlete as a whole, so high school or club coaches must have submitted a player with her specific academic information.
This list is not affiliated with, and should not be confused with, the CoSIDA Academic All-America Awards, which is presented annually to top collegiate students.
We are pleased to honor the athletes listed here, who possess exceptional talents on the volleyball court and who have earned top marks in the classroom. Year after year, the volume of meaningful activities, success in volleyball, and academic accolades those nominated have achieved never ceases to amaze us!
PrepVolleyball.com’s 2018 Academic All-Americans are presented in four teams of eight, with the addition of a “Highest Honorable Mention” category with many others to total 46 players. Each team consists loosely of five or six attackers, one or two setters, and one-to-three defensive players.
