When I think of the name “Volleypalooza,” I think about non-stop volleyball everywhere you look. That’s exactly what it felt like, too, with seven different gym sites playing at the same time to accommodate the 16 pools on Day 1.
I considered hopping around to more than I did, but figured I’d miss out on a lot of the substance of the day by driving to each site and sticking around for around 30 minutes. So, I decided to try to get the most bang for my buck and went to the largest facility with four courts (“the PAC”), as well as host school Rouse HS, which had two courts.
What did I miss because of it? I missed a couple of third seeds inching their way into the Gold bracket. I missed Cedar Park beating Pearland to force a tie, and just Cedar Park advancing with Flower Mound in Pool 5.
