In response to news of the COVID-19 outbreak earlier this month, several entities have cancelled events, outings, and plans involving large gatherings in the coming months. We have seen that directly as numerous national volleyball tournaments and local club practices have ceased for the foreseeable future.
The NCAA has taken action, too. First, it did so by cancelling all winter and spring NCAA championships. Several more conferences and universities have cancelled the rest of spring seasons – including fall sports in spring training – and many member institutions have made the decision to send student-athletes home for the semester.
The NCAA has also implemented a new dead period through at least April 15 to prevent coaching staffs from all levels from going out and recruiting on- or off-campus.
