Watching the two teams, “Team Pressure” and “Team Savage,” and its players warm up for the AVCA's 14th annual Under Armour (UA) All-America match made me breathtakingly aware of just how good and physical girls volleyball has become. The game, hosted at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, displayed 24 of the best volleyball players in the country right there on the same court.
It was my first event back after maternity leave, but also my first time being at a UA All-America match. Along with getting back in the groove of things after two months away, part of the allure for me was seeing these athletes on the same court for the first time ever.
We have ranked 22 of the 24 UA First-Team All-America athletes in the top 100 in the class of 2020 as Senior Aces, comparing one athlete’s future collegiate impact to another. But we’ve yet to even seen them all in the same gym, let alone taking the stage alongside one another.
