If 17 Open follows along the same line as 15 Open, then the reality is any team fighting to make it out of the first round of pool play on Day 2 isn’t like to advance past Day 3. Seven of the eight quarterfinalists in 15 Open had no issues breaking the first round of pool.

The only team that had to sweat it out was Coast 15-1, and not really all that much. Coast lost its last match of pool and fell into a three-way tie at 2-3. But Coast couldn’t lose the tiebreaker on set percentage and had the two other teams beat head-to-head. In other words, Coast was through no matter what happened in its last pool match on Day 2.
