In the weeks leading up to the USAV at the Girls Junior National Championships (GJNC) in Indianapolis, many teams had to weigh out what they’d do to prepare. Many chose to practice while others attended AAU Nationals in Orlando. The turnaround from AAUs to GJNC was a mere four days including two travel days to get back home, then head to Indianapolis.
For the 16 National Champions, Mintonette m.61, however, they decided to have it all – compete at AAU Nationals in the 17 Premier division, have over a week of rest from competition, and also compete at GJNC. They didn’t just play at AAUs in one division above their own; they won it. With a 14-0 record, playing the most matches of any other team in the tournament, Mintonette captured the 17 Premier title.
