I flew into Spokane Friday morning for the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, meaning I missed 99 percent of what happened during the AM wave in 15 and 16 Open. I did, however, catch the most important one percent.

And for HJV 15 Elite, the No. 4 overall seed, that unfortunately meant I watched the highest-seeded team get knocked from contention on Day 1 when DaKine Warriors 15 Surf pulled off the upset in three, 29-27, 16-25, 15-11, and won the pool outright at 3-0. Red Rock 15-1 also moved on, having downed HJV in three, 14-25, 25-21, 15-11.

It was Hailey Brockway and Kristeen Copeland delivering a block to wrap it up for DaKine.
