Legacy, A5, CIS On Top at the Prestigious NIT

The most prestigious tournament in club volleyball outside of Nationals has come to a close. The Triple Crown National Invitational Tournament (NIT) welcomed 484 teams in the age divisions we cover (15s through 18s) and 139 more in the 12-, 13-, and 14-and-under age groups combined.

It’s been a whirlwind of a weekend with 186 teams ranked in our PrepVolleyball.com rankings playing at all hours of the day. Everywhere I looked there was a fierce rivalry, third set, and impressive player, so it was a challenge to know exactly what to watch at any given moment while not being sucked into watching an entire match from start to finish. In the coming week after traveling back home, getting some sleep, and decompress about everything I saw, I’ll write more about what happened in each age division. Until then, I’ll get straight to the point with a brief summary.

I made some not-so-bold predictions about who would be standing as one of the final four teams in each division, but I wasn’t so far off in choosing teams from Power Pools A, B, C, and D because no team in the top eight of any of the four divisions began the NIT outside of those pools.
