Many liberos and back-row specialists have surrendered to the fact that they will likely wait until the final year or two of high school to make their college commitment. After all, many colleges seem to make the decision to bring in a libero based around the other pieces they have and money the program has available. That's not always the case, though.
Recently, Sydney Taylor has announced her commitment to The Ohio State University. The 5-9 sophomore (class of 2021) libero from Ohio will play for Mintonette Sports m.61 this upcoming club season and competes as an outside hitter for Bishop Watterson High School.
Taylor accepted an offer to be a Buckeye in her second year of high school, a rare opportunity that seems to be limited to elite liberos. She also received her first proposal as an eighth-grader.
